María del Pilar Peralta Ardila studied sociology and a master's degree in sociology at Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia. In 2015, during her master degree she joined the Society, History and Culture research group of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Economics at the same university. The title of the thesis was: “Civic and philanthropic elite: The committee of the psychiatric hospital San Isidro, Cali, 1950-1961”, awarded with distinction. After her MA, she has worked as a research assistant in the Epidemiology and Population Health (GESP) research group at the School of Public Health at Universidad del Valle. She has participated in projects related with environment, human health and community. In 2020 she received a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for the Class of Culture and History of the Graduate School Language & Literature, Ludwig-Maximilian-Universität München, Germany.
