Fausto Ignatov Vinueza studied sociology and gender studies as well as political science for his MA at LMU Munich. In his master’s thesis, he analyzed the role of the state in the development of democratic structures and processes in Latin America and the reception and interpretation of Ulrich Beck’s work in Latin American sociology. Fausto joined the doctoral program in October 2017. His dissertation explores the construction and reproduction of discourses on development, progress, and success in “internalizing societies” in relation to extractivist policies and practices.
