Doctoral Excursion to the Bavarian Forest

On 4 July 2016, the members of the Doctoral Program Environment and Society took a field trip to the Bavarian Forest National Park. Following a fascinating introduction to the history of the park, and that of its sister park in the Czech Republic, the Šumava National Park, the group spent an enjoyable day hiking up the Lusen. Along the way, they were able to explore the forest surroundings and were rewarded with a breathtaking view at the top. A brief tour of the Lusen visitor center offered a further treat: a canopy walk where visitors could stroll among the trees and take in the view of the Lusen from the uppermost platforms.
