Sabine Buchczyk

Dr. Sabine Buchczyk

Sabine Buchczyk is a cultural historian with particular interest in tourism and recreational studies as well as northern and polar environments. In her dissertation, Sabine focused on the cultural and historical dimensions of tourism in Alaska. Sabine completed her degree in 2017. 

For her doctoral research proposal, Sabine was accepted to the Elite Network of Bavaria and has concurrently participated in the Jointly Delivered Doctoral Degree Program between LMU Munich and the University of Alberta. Alongside her graduate studies in both Munich and Edmonton, Canada, she has worked in multiple positions, including a research assistantship in the Department of History and Classics at the University of Alberta and as research associate at the Rachel Carson Center in Munich. Further, she was involved in two exhibitions: a history exhibit for Mount Robson Provincial Park of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, and the exhibit “Welcome to the Anthropocene” for the Deutsches Museum in Munich.
