Dr. Elena Torres Ruiz

Doctoral candidate

Elena Torres Ruiz received her MA in American cultural history, political science and theatre studies from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich in 2013. In 2011, she spent a semester abroad at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, which was partially funded by the PROSA program of the LMU and was supported by the Ranke Heinemann Institute. Her MA thesis focused on 9/11 and the depiction and use of gender stereotypes in American politics and the media. Since the beginning of her studies at LMU she has been working as an editorial assistant at the Bayerischer Rundfunk.

Elena is an active member and regional coordinator of the Young Transatlantic Initiative. In April 2014 she joined the Environment and Society doctoral program.
