Research spotlight: Contested Wind Energy in Mexico

14.10.2015

Doctoral candidate Oliver D. Liebig presented a paper on ‟The Wind of the Ikojts: New Conceptualizations of Nature, Resources, and Territory in the Contested Field of Renewable Energies“ at the biannual congress of the German Anthropological Association (GAA) in Marburg. A publication based on the presentation is now in progress. The conference's theme, ‟Crisis. Re-Formations of Life, Power, and World,“ attracted many scholars whose work addresses the interactions of environment and society. Keynote speakers included Marisol de la Cadena, Sarah Strauss and Nancy Scheper-Hughes. Liebig joined Ursula Münster from the Carson Center in catalyzing plans to bring like-minded anthropologists to a future meeting in Munich.
