Ruhi Deol completed a Bachelor and Master of Arts in Sociology from Delhi University in 2007, before working in India's environment and development sector for five years. She completed a second Master of Arts in Human Geography from King's College London in 2013, with a thesis focusing on women's empowerment in agriculture in the Himalayan foothills. For the past two years, she has been working with the Sustainable Business Institute (SBI) in Germany on a UNEP project targeting financial institutions and climate change adaptation. She joined the Rachel Carson Center's Environment and Society doctoral program in October 2014.
